John Cardiel - Thrasher Interview

The snowboarding sequences almost prevented me from posting this, but I figured that the radness of Cardiel pretty much outweighs the shittiness of snowboarding. I hope that you all agree; I mean after all it was only 1995, snowboarding didn't become fully cringe-worthy for another year or so.

What is wrong with snowboarding? It definitely has it's fair share of kooks. But so does skateboarding.

Love the blog. Keep up the good work!

Yeah, I was a bit harsh. Usually I would keep those kinds of opinions to myself, but I suppose in this case I had to express my disapproval of running snowboard coverage in a skate mag. At this point I don't feel that the two things (snowboarding and skateboarding) are really linked whatsoever. Didn't mean to offend of course, and I am really glad that you like the stuff I have been posting up. Thanks for taking the time to comment.

No offense taken, I was merely curious as to your thoughts behind your comment about snowboarding. It is weird to see snowboard coverage in a skate mag, especially Thrasher. Phelps wasn't the head guy at Thrasher back then, was he?

Phelps was already editor at this point. Thrasher actually ran that "Cold Snap" feature until like 1998 or so, but usually it focused on dudes who skated as well.

Right! I forgot about that...
